Tony Vernali was presented with a certificate for winning the 5th grade Fire Prevention Poster Contest for the Town of Manchester. His family was here to enjoy the event where Fire Marshal Talbot and Fire Marshall Barker presented Tony with the plaque.
Everyone was taken by surprise when all the firemen and reporters and photographers showed up! Mr. Alexander's class was excited for their classmate. This was the first computer manipulated photographic poster ever chosen. A photographed modeled clay scene was Photoshopped and the text added by Tony.
In Mr. Egan's class, Austin Mooney was awarded the certificate for the Waddell School winning 2010 fire poster from the 4th grade.
Austin's poster was complemented for its bold, clear design and message. This poster is a photo of a collage done the "old-fashioned way", and then Photoshopped by Austin for text and color effects.
Mrs. Craib was surprised
to get a plaque, too!

Mrs. Medynski reports: During the month of January, the First Graders celebrated the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
We enjoyed wonderful stories about his life as a youngster and about his work as an adult. The children also watched a movie," My Friend Martin". They had some very interesting thoughts and questions after viewing this movie.
After reading the story,"Martin's Big Words", by Doreen Rappaport, Mrs. Medynski's class wrote about dreams of their own and how they could help the world become a safer, peaceful, and happier place. The children did a super job!

Here is what she has to say about it!
Dear Parents,
I would like to use the Waddell School website to keep you informed of events that I have planned for the coming school year.
I will also post a link to a special Parents’ Newsletter that I have subscribed to this year. Each month, READING CONNECTION will give you helpful tips for being involved in your child’s educational success. The newsletter also lists children’s books that you might like to pick up at the library or bookstore.
I am hoping that you will find this link a valuable resource for choosing “at home” activities that reinforce the learning that is taking place here at school.
This is a link to the page (which is just getting started).
The permanent link will remain in the navigation bar to the left.
