Chives
(Allium schoenoprasum)
![]()
This is NOT a native plant.
Native to Europe and Asia.
Chives are good to eat. It grows it thick clumps unlike many other onion relatives who are loners. You can take up a clump or part of a clump in the fall and keep it on your window sill all winter to clip tasty leaves from for your salad's garnish.
I need a picture of the flower!
Below: looking down on a dry seed head; one shiny black seed is wrapped in that beige "tissue paper" on the end of each tiny stalk.
