History and Companion Plants

Members in this genus, Geranium, should not be confused with the common
annual geranium of summer gardens, Pelargonium xhortorum. The common
name, Crane's Bill, originates from the resemblance of Geranium species seed
pod shape to that of a crane's bill or beak. They are vigorous, long-lived and
trouble- free perennials considered to be one of the classics in the perennial
garden.

Crane's Bill is a very popular group of plants in Europe and most experts feel
that their use in North America will soon become widespread. 'Bressingham's
Delight' is a versatile plant which combines nicely with Siberian Iris (Iris
siberica), Garden Phlox (try Phlox paniculata 'Eva Cullum' or 'Franz Schubert'),
Evening Primrose (Oenothera spp.) and Ornamental Grasses. Plants also look
nice as a groundcover around shrubs.
