First Grade January:

How Sound is Made

Miss Sloan from the Children's Museum Of West Hartford visited our grade one classes on Friday, January 15th to teach us how sound is produced.

She explained that sound is caused by vibrations that travel through the air. Each child had the opportunity to make a musical instrument and use air to make vibrations that created sounds.

They used pvc pipes, balloons, rubber bands & straws to make their instruments. The children put on quite a "concert" after making their wind instruments.

Each child was happy to take their instrument home to share with their families.

This program was made possible by a grant from The Savings Bank Of Manchester.
We will travel to the Science Museum on March 16th for another fascinating and fun science lesson.
