During the month of October we studied some of the adaptations and habits of squirrels as they prepare for Winter.

We read many books about squirrels to learn important facts that would help us understand why they build nests in trees & gather food.

The children made "Squirrel Bags" and then pretended to be young squirrels getting ready for Winter. We gathered leaves, pine needles & grasses for our nests as well as nuts for food. It was not easy as we imagined how hard it must me to gather enough to last the entire winter.

It was a good experience for us as we learned many new things about squirrels.
